In these works my compositions have become smaller and the space more defined. The past years have given us all social and physical reductions to maneuver. Barriers that were easily crossed, such as borders, social networks and the walls of your own home, became difficult to move through. My previous work explored the impossibility of containment. However, this work is more about moments, even brief or illusionary, when the world does feel circumscribed.

The imagery for these investigations came from looking at efforts to restore coral reefs. And asking can we change ourselves from destroyer to cultivator? Can an organism be contained within a benevolent container? And if so, does it become a kind of mutualism, or are we simply beginning the grieving process. I also wanted to explore interior and exterior places. By referencing exoskeletons and organs, I was looking for moments of likeness. The interior of one body resembles the exterior of another.
